About

The Model 59 neck pickup is one of our most popular pickups because it is so versatile. It’s designed in the spirit of the original 1950s P.A.F. humbuckers, with sweet sustain, full chords, and a bright, clear attack, but we’ve made some improvements to slightly modernize the design and make it more adaptable to different styles.

The ’59 has a full bass, which is great for adding character to your clean tones and sustain to your leads. The highs are slightly boosted for clarity of attack and the mids are a bit hollowed out for an open, smooth sound, ideal for preserving the clarity of individual notes in a chord. Play softly and the mids and highs seem to fade, but choose loud and the note will be secure and clear. There’s no genre in which the ’59 can’t work. It pairs well with a high-output bridge humbucker like the JB or Custom, but it’s equally at home with more moderate pickups like the ’59 bridge. And it’s also a popular choice for those with humbucker-routed Telecasters. And if you order a four-conductor version for the coil split, its single-coil mode is crystal clear.

The Model 59 neck pickup is wound on Seymour’s Leesona 102 winder, the same one that was used in Gibson’s Kalamazoo, MI factory in the 1950s. It comes standard with a long-legged nickel silver bottom plate, a vintage single-conductor braided spun lead wire and no logo.
