The name and brand Mullard were acquired by the New Sensor Corporation. This new Mullard EL34 production tube is manufactured at their Xpo-Pul plant (also known as Reflektor) in Saratov, Russia. New Sensor is an American company and since it became the owner of this factory, the quality of the current production tubes has continued to improve.
Compared to the New Sensor Corp. Svetlana which has a rather strident midrange, the new Mullard EL34 has been considerably smoothed. The overall sound is more balanced and very warm. This is great news for people with something like a Marshall, as they are intrinsically mid-range. The low mediums are well balanced to avoid any growling tone.
