Electro-Harmonix has captured the love that Jimi Hendrix fans had for vintage fuzz. The Octavix is aptly named, as it's a pedal based on Roger Mayer's Octavia. A fuzz (with adjustable upper octave) with a beautiful look, whose sound evokes its inspiration or the old Fuzz Face. The sound is very dirty without going all over the place. A real fuzz whose sound ends up crashing when your chord stops resonating, but whose sustain holds if you pull well on the string. Perfect. With a guitar equipped with single pickups, you feel more the presence of the octave (the doubles smooth out the octave-fuzz ensemble a bit more). You'll quickly think you're the Voodoo Child. But that's not all: this pedal has a switch that allows you to switch from 9 to 24 volts. With the higher voltage, the sound becomes more precise and a bit clearer, without losing any bite. And if you want to play it noisy, with the switch on 24 V, put all the pots on full, and you will see that it works very well in a more modern register. A fuzz with character at a great price. What more could you ask for?
